ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS INFO

What is Adjustment of status

Adjustment of status (AOS) is a procedure that allows an eligible applicant to become a lawful permanent resident (LPR) of the United States without need of applying for an immigrant visa outside the U.S.

Effective July 31, 2002, the USCIS (formerly INS) allowed the concurrent filing of an I-485 adjustment of status application with an I-140 immigration petition, if visa quota has not been reached at the time of filing.
